Dear Waterford Township School District Community,
It’s my honor and privilege to serve the students of Waterford as superintendent and principal of Atco Elementary School. My dual role allows for continuous reflection, dialogue, and conversation with parents, students and staff members.
I am committed to addressing the various needs of our student population through a tiered approach to instruction and intervention. Our approach allows for students to be screened throughout the year to ensure grade level proficiency. If a student is identified as having a specific deficiency, we utilize a variety of strategies to address the deficiency collaboratively with the teacher and the parents/guardians. Each and every day, we strive to create an educational environment that builds a foundation for student success - emotionally, socially and academically.
I am most proud of our recent designation by the New Jersey Department of Education as one of 11 lighthouse districts across the state. We received this honor for demonstrating growth, as well as using data to provide differentiated supports, based on individual students’ needs. This has been a true team effort between the Board of Education, administrative team, and staff who worked diligently to align our curriculum and programs with the New Jersey Student Learning Standards.
As a parent and an educator, I encourage you to stay involved and informed about your child(s) education. We have many wonderful opportunities and resources here in Waterford. If you have a question or concern, please share it with your child’s classroom teacher.
Dr. Brenda Harring
